Brixton’s very own David Bowie musical tour!


 

Young and ambitious singer/songwriter Nick Stephenson has set up the immersive experience that is the David Bowie Musical Walking Tour. On the 8th of January 2017 (Bowies birthday), Nick launched his musical tour around Brixton which has gained momentum and popularity for those who wish to pay their respects and celebrate the incredible life of legend David Bowie.

 

The tour begins at Brixton tube station where Nick greets participants with his guitar, then weaves around the streets of Brixton where Bowie was born and performed his first gig (Brixton Academy). At each stop Nick sings one of Bowies’ songs encouraging his fellow Bowie lovers to sing along!

 

Alongside this, Nick tells the poignant story of Bowie’s life and work in Brixton which often takes customers to rare and unique sites. Nick has extensively researched Bowies love of Brixton and customers are in for a treat if they decide to take the magically musical 2 hour long tour.

Nick has received rave reviews for his tour online and via TimeOut London:

The tour runs regularly on Wednesdays & Fridays at 11am and 2pm, Sundays at 2pm.

UK TVC - Music Composition, Sound Design & Audio Post

We are proud to have worked closely with Brett Foraker/RSA, Matt Westrup/Joyrider, the Golley Slater Cardiff's creative directors David Abbott and Paul Williams and Amanda Lowit at The TV Production Office to craft the music and sound design for the "Mitsubishi Motors in the UK" 30 second TV commercial for the New PHEV and Mitsubishi's sponsorship of C4 Documentaries which air from October 19th.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was the world’s first 4WD Plug-in Hybrid SUV that produced a remarkable 148mpg and became the UK’s number one selling hybrid vehicle. The new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV not only has even more impressive numbers at its heart, but has undergone a complete redesign with stunning exterior styling and a premium interior finish.  
In short, the new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV meant that on all levels ‘Numbers never looked this good’.

Rob Baker, one of SNK’s top engineers, sculpted the creative sound design for the 30 second TV commercial. It was key that there was a clear definition between the various environments, whilst maintaining the stylistic flow throughout the spot. Rob explains “the sound design and bespoke music have a real interplay and work together to form a really full-textured soundbed, we wanted the contemporary soundtrack to feel like one really coherent piece that underpinned the beautiful visuals”.

Along with the music for dozens of radio and Spotify commercials produced at SNK Studios over the past few months, we've just had the PRS confirm that our original music compositions were recently broadcast on TV in the following legendary programmes!

Flog It, What Not To Wear, Tanked, Worlds Dumbest Criminals, a re-run of Top Gear, the theme music to My Super Sweet Sixteen and several high-profile TV commercials including The Royal Navy, Rated People and a world famous fashion house who shall remain nameless!

It's literally - music to our ears!

The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV UK TV and Cinema commercial took over a months’ work and a huge team effort from SNK.

The audio blurs the lines between music and sound design, combining carefully crafted synthesised textures with layers of sound effects to help tell the story of this new ground breaking car.

The sound has become a fundamental part of the commercial, with even the voice over being given an original sonic twist.

If you’ve been watching documentaries on Channel 4 of late we’re sure you’ll have been distracted by the stunning Mitsubishi Sponsorship idents.

SNK Studios worked with Guy Soulsby and Golley Slater on the full post-production audio from voice casting and recording to sound design and even bespoke music composition.

SNK's Studio 1 was recently taken on a temporary jaunt to Wales for a mini-break.

Golley Slater's new 'Visit Wales' TVC and cinema commercials arrived ready for their audio post production. Gorgeous shots of Welsh coast and countryside were imbued  with sound design and overlayed with a traditional Welsh song performed by Cerys Matthews.

SNK Studios win both "Best use of music" and the Grand Prix awards at IVCA Awards 2014!

Working for JB3 Creative, recently merged with the Giggle Group for the Crisis charity Christmas e-card campaign, SNK produced the music for a series of e-cards using people whom the charity have encountered within their work.

SNK Studio’s music production took the gold award for ‘Best Use of Music’ – a strong category that included entries from BMW and British Airways.

JB3Creative/theGiggle Group and SNK Studios were collectively surprised and delighted to also receive the Grand Prix award for the evening. Follow this link for all the entries and winners.

The 26th International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) awards described as a ‘celebration of communication creativity and effectiveness’ took place last Friday 28th March at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Music arrangement & production for corporate fundraising campaign.

This year we had had the pleasure of working with our friends at Knifedge on this year's Crisis Christmas Card, an e-card package that corporations buy to raise money for Crisis.

Eight different Crisis members performed their own renditions of classic Christmas songs, including "White Christmas", "Silent Night" and "I Believe in Father Christmas". Here at SNK we recorded and produced full musical arrangemnets around their fantastic vocal performances, before of the eight Crisis members were then filmed in a Christmassy location performing their song again, allowing Knifedge to create a pop music video for each of them.

SNK director Kayvan Moghaddassi had this to say:

"This project was something I was particularly enthusiastic about working on, as I've been a volunteer at Crisis Christmas for six years now and I've seen first hand how the fantastic work which Crisis does can have such a positive impact on the lives of the individuals it helps. Whilst striving to transform the lives of homeless people and campaigning for change to prevent individuals becoming homeless in the first place, Crisis relys on donors to fund the work they do. I'm looking forward to seeing this campaign reach its fundraising target."

So far, the campaign has raised nearly £500,000 of its target of £600,000.

We're delighted that both the Canon 'Legria' idents for Drum and Royal Navy 'Predator' TV ad for WCRS have been picked up for relicense in the last month.

We're especially pleased about these two as they both have some of our best original music composition on there - so it's nice to know they're being put to good use!! Both were re-voiced at SNK Studios in the last month and are now on TV.
